A simple act of friendship can make a world of difference. The Senior Buddy Program, a project of Jewish Family Service (JFS), pairs caring volunteers with Jewish seniors in our community who may be feeling isolated or in need of extra support. Through regular visits, phone calls, and check-ins, we help ensure that every senior in our community feels valued, connected, and cared for.
As people age, maintaining social connections can become more challenging. Loneliness and isolation can have significant effects on mental and physical well-being, but a friendly visit or a heartfelt conversation can bring joy, comfort, and a renewed sense of belonging.
Through the Senior Buddy Program, we provide:
Companionship & Emotional Support
Regular visits and meaningful conversations to brighten someone’s day.
Check-Ins & Friendly Calls
A listening ear and a reassuring presence.
Assistance with Small Tasks
Help with errands, reading mail, or other light support.
Holiday & Birthday Celebrations
Ensuring every senior feels remembered and included in the community.
Volunteering as a Senior Buddy is a rewarding way to give back and build intergenerational friendships. If you have a few hours to spare each month, you can make a real difference in someone’s life.
Volunteer as a Buddy
Spend time with a senior, sharing stories, playing games, or just offering companionship.
Support Holiday Outreach
Help deliver holiday care packages and cards to brighten someone’s season.
Send Letters & Cards
A small gesture that can mean so much.
If you or a loved one could benefit from a Senior Buddy, we’d love to match you with a caring volunteer.
